FDA looks at genetically engineered salmon

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/26/business/26salmon.html

This would be the first genetically engineered animal allowed for human consumption passed by the FDA. Makes me want to barf. Genetically engineering foods affect not just health, but also patenting (owning the rights to genes! this is nuts!), which leads to unbelievable things like suing conventional producers who wind up with GE cross-fertilized food and thus are accused of stealing! (This happens all the time with ag businesses like Monsanto who patent seeds.) There is no doubt these kinds of injustices would transfer to GE animal production. And more, imagine if the GE fish get into the ocean (which they will!) and start fing with the ocean’s ecosystems!?!?

This is an outrage!

And yes, at this point, I feel powerless.

FDA! You hear me? You are stupid to even consider this!!! RRarr!
